Phulkari, meaning "flower work" is a traditional handmade embroidery technique, crafted by the marvelous fingers of Punjabi women. Initially it was purely a domestic art, in other words a true folk art to satisfy the creative urge of Punjabi women and was not for sale. This handcrafted embroidery is done with floss silk thread on hand woven cotton fabric, that creates astonishing patterns (especially geometric pattern) on odinis, shawls, kurtis and chunris.
